In Modena first we race, then we stay

Marzaglia on fire

How can you tell the difference between the race and the day itself? You measure the race in thousandths of a second, but you measure the day by everything else: the queues at the shop, the aroma of food drifting into the paddocks, and the off-track bike shows by Toto Testa and his crew. Indeed, people do not just come to the Trofei Malossi to race: they stay, even more so when Torquato Testa swaps his scooter for a bike to soar through the sky.

First round of the season for the Trofeo Nazionale Scooter Velocità (National Scooter Speed Trophy)

Pole position went to Ignacio Roman (Team D.P.S.), but the rest was a ménage à quatre with Sciacca, Guzzon and Reale swapping the lead as if they were dancing the mazurka. Guzzon (Guzz Garage) earned the overall title for the day, Sciacca (Rotondo Corse) took second place while also clocking the fastest lap (1:14.489), while Buscema (Buscema Racing Team) finished third. In the new TNSV Replica, Luca Bernardelli (Martelli Motors) came to dominate: two category wins and the first historic title of the day.

ScooterMatic and Malossi Racing Academy: what’s new

The grid is as long as your breath is short. Roman took pole position for the ScooterMatic category, yet the race was a four-way battle between him, Sciacca (BSC Moto), Buscema, and Iannini. The overall title for the day went to Sciacca, while Michael Fedeli (Guzz Garage) won in the Trofeo SM Regioni Nord (SM Northern Regions Trophy).

The new MRA riders battled it out for the first time (and what a thrill!): Claudio Ceccarini secured the overall victory of the day and the fastest lap award, but Testa started in pole position, dominated the first part of the heat, then slipped while trying to reclaim the lead before restarting. In the second heat, he fought back to the front and held on until the end: he finished second, but it is safe to say he knows how to hold his own. Ceccarini took first place, with Coletta in third, just one-thousandth of a second behind second place. One-thousandth, can you believe it?

Toto everywhere

Between one heat and the next, Toto Testa headed out with his bike for his shows. It is the kind of thing that only happens when Malossi is involved: when we are around, the passion for two wheels expands, touching related and diverse territories that do not necessarily have an engine.

The shop worked non-stop, and the food and drinks provided energy and refreshment for everyone, all day long. We went home tired but happy, just like every time we meet the Malossers in person.

The next round is at the Circuito Internazionale in Triscina, on 2nd and 3rd May, for the round held in Sicily. We’ll see you there.
