At EICMA 2018 – Milan’s annual International Motorcycle Exhibition held every November – our fans took centre stage at the Malossi stand, courtesy of the Excape Garage.
In this head-to-head challenge, paired competitors guided by our tutors Fabio Canetoli and Henry Favre put their skills to the test, building C-ONE, RC-ONE, and MP-ONE crankcases, as well as the VR-ONE Vespa engine case unveiled at that year’s show (for the truly brave…). It was a pure race against the clock: whoever reassembled the crankcase correctly in the fastest time took the win.
How did participants enter? By keeping an eye on our socials! They answered our call out on Facebook and Instagram, submitting videos to prove their enthusiasm and technical know-how. The battles drew massive crowds, with visitors packing out the space outside our garage to watch every bolt-tightening showdown down to the wire.
Even for the most experienced mechanics, racing the clock under the watchful eyes of Malossi technicians – and in front of a live crowd at EICMA alongside viewers tuned into our Facebook streams – was no easy task.
Laughter, sweat, total focus, and trembling hands: that, in a nutshell, was the Excape Garage.
As for the four fastest builders who claimed victory in their respective categories? They won a spot at the Malossi Camp Winter Edition, hosted by Henry Favre in Valle d’Aosta in January 2019.
