WORLD MALOSSI DAY | A full-throttle weekend

Emotions on the track, international challenges and collaborations took place at the Adria Convention

This year once again with the arrival of autumn, another sensational edition of the Malossi Trophy Races, now at its 29^th edition, has come to an end. And what better way to celebrate another successful season than by organizing a proper world convention? Hence the plains around the racetrack of Adria (RO) began to smell like fuel mixture and the air was filled with the humming of the world’s most powerful 2 strokes scooters (and not only!).

On the 24th, 25th and 26th of September the World Malossi Day took place in Adria, an event which marks the end of the 2016 season, but which is actually a proper convention for all Malossi enthusiasts. To encircle the end of the various trophies, from the powerful T-Max to the fast scooters of the National Speed Trophy, there were a series of appearances, and prominent innovations of which the most important was certainly the brand new collaboration between Kymco, world leader in the production of automatic scooters, and Malossi, with the presentation of new Kymco Downtown 350 in its racing version, which is equipped with a great series of after-market accessories designed specifically for this scooter by our most skilled technicians.

To enrich the presentation some pilots participating in trophies had the privilege and the opportunity to be the first to test the “racing” capabilities of this new maxi scooter with 12 vehicles equipped with the same technical components, for an equal performance among all the pilots on the track! As usual Malossi didn’t disappoint and the spur of the moment comments were enthusiastic: the ride is powerful, fun and fast…it’s going to be interesting!

The same drivers who competed with the Downtown were then protagonists of the finals of the various trophies, giving a great show on the track, taking their fluorescent rides to the limit and not holding back anything. Even if in the pits everyone is friendly and works shoulder to shoulder, once on the track, victory is the only thing that counts!

To encircle the challenges on the track, for this great event, the entire Adria facility has been monopolized by Malossi, and in the wonderful paddock you could breathe a special atmosphere: next to the pits, drenched with sportsmanship and competitiveness, Malossi set up a huge temporary shop in order to show to all fans the latest innovations on the market, such as the ignition update for classic Vespas, Vespower.

While in the pits the tension was building up and the teams were preparing for the last few races of the season, some of the most loyal heroes of the historic brand came to visit us in the paddock. And then on the horizon, directly from Bologna riding their ultra modified Piaggio Bravos, appeared the “Galliera-Mosca con il Ciao” (Galliera-Moscow with a Ciao) friends, which had recently returned from their second madness; after Russian cold they decided to take on, in the middle of August, the desert heat, going on tour in Marrakech starting again from Galliera, near Bologna. They have traveled thousands of kilometers riding their Bravos (developed by Malossi for the occasion); these daredevils are perhaps the greatest exponents of passion for engines and the best testers of the products that Malossi designs, manufactures, and markets for the small Piaggio moped.

Together with them, always aboard his trusted Ciao, affectionately named Lello, Henry Favre came to visit us, after having recently returned from his latest folly. After having covered way more than 10 thousand km hidden inside the small Ape which accompanied him from Aosta to the North Cape, this summer he traveled along the coast of the peninsula – islands included! – Riding the small 1978 moped with pedals. A true lover of the brand that keeps his rides alive throughout these exhausting trips, Henry is an avid fan and a constant presence at events like this. As a true social phenomenon, Henry has been followed by thousands of people during his adventures and some fans have reached him in Adria also riding their Ciao to meet him first person and to share with him the passion for this historic vehicle and for the company that, despite the time that has passed, it still does everything possible to keep these mopeds alive and in shape.

So the Wold Malossi Day is, a big party, a great event that enriches the races on the track and that wants to collect in one place all the fans of mechanics, engines and of our historical brand at 360°.
